Day 34 - Daily Sharing of: Gratitude, Concern, Prayer/Inspiration

I call these my Evening Pages. However, long before now, I was introduced to Morning Pages in the book, “The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity” by Julia Cameron, with Mark Bryan. The book was first published in 1992. I will be taking a Ministry Basics course this week and part of our preparatory homework was Morning Pages. The idea is first thing in the morning, one writes 3 pages the old fashion way… with a pen or pencil and paper. No computer, no auto-correct, no stopping to revise along the way… just write until you’ve completed 3 pages. If you can’t think of anything; just write “blah, blah, blah…” until something else comes in your head. Perhaps a shopping list, worries, or… So I’ve been reintroduced to my old friend of Morning Pages; and believe it enhances my day, and my Evening Pages. I think of it like oiling a rusted machine. I am getting older, and kind of rusty, so when I awake, it’s kind of good to get the mind going. I’ve seen several offerings from Psychologists and Mental Health Providers about the power of journaling at this time; when we may feel out of control or anxious or worried. So I write this night to offer gratitude for Morning Pages and offer up inspiration for others to try it. Perhaps even for a week to see if free-flow writing has a positive contribution for the day. If you take off with Morning Pages; an Artist Date comes next! I have attached the short video below that describes the process, for those that do not have the book. View this short video: http://juliacameronlive.com/basic-tools/ I offer two Paulo Coelho quotes tonight for prayer: “There are moments when troubles enter our lives and we can do nothing to avoid them. But they are there for a reason. Only when we have overcome them will we understand why they were there.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Fifth Mountain AND, I offer... to be able to understand this time... “Tears are words that need to be written.” ― Paulo Coelho May it be so…
